  1. What made you want to become a Community Assistant?
  • I really wanted to help out incoming freshman particularly and have them feel safe. It was a good mentor position which is good because I would like to go into teaching.
  1. Did you choose wellness living?
  • I did not they just placed me here. When I first applied for the job they have a list, but granite was my first choice.
  1. If you could work in Mt. Washington or New Hampshire rather than wellness, would you?
  • No probably not, because it is easier with wellness because you can expect a little more out of the residents. You expect them not to do what they signed a contract for. Drinking, and drugs etc.
  1. Are there any perks of being a CA?
  • We get paid, the checks go right to you, and you can do whatever you want with the money. I get to choose what I want to do with the money. (half schooling, half freedom), I get my own room and double the furniture. And I enjoy making the door tags J I get to express my artistic creativity.
  1. What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve had to deal with?
  • Catching people drinking and not being conspicuous. Especially the fact that they don’t even try to hide it.
  1. Do you enjoy your job?
  • Yes I do enjoy this job, I love meeting new people and becoming friends with the people I get to work with through out the year. I get a true pleasure out of it.
  1. Have you ever had to write up a friend? Was it hard?
  • Not yet, and I hope I don’t have to.
  1. Is your job considered difficult?
  • Not particularly, but I sometimes don’t enjoy having to tell someone that what they are doing is not allowed such as ball games, only because I know they are having fun, but it is an endangerment to others so I do have to ask them to please stop.
  1. Is it difficult to become a Community Assistant?
  • No not particularly, you go through the application process with a questionnaire, then an interview with the ED’s. and now this past year they had all of the applicants do a group interview process where we were all together for a couple of hours to do team leadership and team building exercises.

10.What are the rules you have to follow?
  • I have to be respectful of everyone and myself. I’m not allowed to drink or do drugs either because I’m in a freshman dorm. I must do all of my duties, work for one open house, know my radio codes, also getting involved, I can’t make it so I’m always locked in my dorms.
