Megan Curry is a community assistant (CA) at Franklin Pierce University. Megan was first interested in Franklin Pierce when her friend had applied, and since she didn't know where she wanted to go to college, she applied to Franklin Pierce. Megan has been a CA for three semesters. What lead Megan to become a CA was that she wanted to do something that would get her involved on campus and help meet people. Also, she had a horrible roommate experience. But to make her incoming freshman feel welcome she puts name tags on everyone’s door, hang up bulletin boards, and quotes to make the hall less hospital like.
When Megan was asked what is the hardest thing to deal with as a CA, she responded: Dealing with people when they are rude and disrespectful, nothing is worse than when you're trying to be nice to someone who is blatantly disrespectful and it is completely uncalled for.
Also when asked what is the most outrageous thing Megan said: To be completely honest the most outrageous thing I've had to deal with is peoples disrespect. It's the one thing I will never understand, like at a fire alarm at 3 am when residents yell and scream at me about how cold they are. As if I'm not standing there outside in the cold with them. I don’t think students understand that as CA's we risk our lives to go back into the building and key into every room to make sure that they are all out of the building. Because until the fire department gets there we have no idea if it was a real fire or not. It is the one part of this job that’s the hardest to deal with.
Megan Curry loves being a CA and says it is one of the best things she has ever done. When asked about her current hallways she said, I love my hallways I currently have 3 East and 2 North New Hampshire, it's a really great group of kids! Everyone is so friendly sometimes they can be a bit noisy but that’s college they are all really awesome and I wouldn't trade them for anything!
